That moment at a concert when worlds come together and love permeates the crowd.

A lovely weekend hike around Mt. Laguna in Cleveland National Forest, only an hour outside San Diego. Fresh air and inspiration are just what a weekend calls for. An abundance of textures and colors from the desert to the forest.
Last month I painted a mural for Hola Che, an Argentinean walk up window eatery in Pacific Beach, California. Great food and SoCal beach atmosphere on the Garnet Avenue strip.

For a lil birthday present for yours truly I signed up for the Mastering Your Market online textile design course! This six week course will cover the basics of working in the three major markets of the textile business. I am looking forward to being in "school" again and learning new things, making more artwork, and thinking strategically. I stumbled across the class on the website Pattern Observer There will be more posts to follow with my progress! Check it out if you are looking for the next step in designing textiles.
Inspiration for my first backbeat in the apparel industry.... trends of sartorial surrealism, old masters with a pop twist, floral disruption, and line drawings.
As far as I am concerned I never have to step foot in a museum or gallery again. My life is complete after seeing the Matisse retrospective at the MOMA in NYC of his "Jazz Cut Outs" These have been my favorite works of art pretty much since the day I first learned about them. I have seen a few here and there at the Tate and the MOMA. But seeing them all together in one space from the first one he made to the stain glass windows of his final project... was something spectacular! Even though it was crowded (of course!) everyone viewing the work seemed to be in shock and awe mode. These works of art really please the masses with their vivid colors, decorative motifs, and abstract yet recognizable compositions. At least order the show catalogue if you can't make it to the MOMA.
Thank you Henri Matisse!
For more Matisse inspiration check out Artsy https://www.artsy.net/artist/henri-matisse for educational resources and images of Matisse and many other visual artists.
